The club was established in 1880 originally called Northampton St. James hence the nickname Saints. They play their home games at Franklin's Gardens, Weedon Road, Northampton NN5 5BG. The Saints have a history of producing top quality players and performing at the top level and although they have had a few blips in their history they have featured in the top flight since the professional era commenced under their chairman, local businessman, Keith Barwell.

Saints Colours

Northampton play their home games in black, gold and green kit with the Northampton town crest on their badge. The kit has featured some famous names in the game such as; Jeff Butterfield, Budge Pountney, Tom Smith, Carlos Spencer, Sean Lamont, Tim Rodber, Martin Bayfield, Nick Beal, Ian Hunter, Bruce Reihana, Mark Robinson and Paul Grayson who went on to coach at the club.

The Saints have a history of producing top class players but do not have a pedigree of winning trophies. Though the one trophy they have secured is without doubt the top club trophy in Europe. They won the Heineken Cup in 1999/2000.
