The New Zealand Rugby Football Union (NZRFU) was founded in 1892, though rugby had been played in the colony from 1870 when a match between Nelson College and Nelson Football Club was played under rugby rules. The provincial sides that today make up the New Zealand contingent in the super 14's also came into existence before the NZRFU in 1879. New Zealand play their home games at three venues these are; Eden Park, Walters Rd, Mt Eden, Auckland, Westpac Stadium, Waterloo Quay, Wellington and Jade Stadium, Stevens Street, Christchurch.

All Blacks Jerseys

New Zealand play their home games in strip comprising black shirts with a silver fern badge, black shorts and socks. The black shirts along with the rest of the strip gave the side their nickname of the All Blacks. However, in 1884, a New Zealand team wore blue jerseys with a gold fern, as this was before the NZRFU was formed many do not consider it was the country colours. The All Blacks have an envied reputation on the world stage and many household names have pulled on the black shirt, with Jonu Lomu and Daniel Carter easily the best known.

The Allblacks remain one of the most consistent nations on the world stage spending more time as the IRB number one nation than any other side. They are a feared competitor either home or away and with the strength of their structure and players registered to the national side and released to the super 14's franchises and provincial sides as decreed by the national management they have more flexibility in ensuring the team peaks at the right moment.
