The Hong Kong National Rugby Union team played their first official International against Japan in Japan in 1969. Although with roots from 1953, when the side played visiting Naval ships or touring sides. Hong Kong play their home games in the 40,000 capacity Hong Kong Stadium, So Kon Po, Hong Kong Island. The stadium is also the venue for the Hong Kong Sevens leg of the International Sevens series.

Rugby Jerseys of Hong Kong

Hong Kong play their home games in strip comprising a blue shirt with red and white bands, blue shorts and socks. The away strip is red with blue and white bands. They also have a special strip for the Hong Kong Sevens which is maroon and blue shoulders with white and light blue torso.

World status

Hong Kong is a third tier rugby playing nation and have yet to qualify for the Rugby World Cup. They did however get through the the final stages of Asia qualification for the 2007 contest where they were against the two best teams in Asia which are Japan and Korea. In the 1st match against Japan, the Hong Kong side lost 52-3 and in the 2nd match between Hong Kong and Korea which was a fiery encounter Korea won 23-5.
