Cardiff Blues (Gleision Caerdydd) were formed in 2003 although their roots go back much further. It is one of the 4 new Welsh professional clubs, there were 5 but Celtic Warriors disbanded in 2004. The club play in the EDF Energy Cup and the Heineken Cup or European Challenge Cup depending on previous season results as well as the Celtic League.

Blues Ground

The Blues home ground is a famous old name in rugby circles Cardiff Arms Park, Westgate Street in Cardiff. The ground was the home of Welsh rugby for many years until the building of the Millennium Stadium and it is one of the largest capacity stadiums available for club rugby.

Gleision Caerdydd Crysau

Not surprisingly Cardiff play their games in kit that match's their name Cardiff Blues. The home strip is light blue shirt with dark blue piping, blue shorts and socks. The away is all white with dark blue strips under the arms. The shirt even in it's short life has been worn by top names a few of them being: Jonah Lomu, Iestyn Harris, Craig Quinnell, Rob Howley, David Young, Neil Jenkins, Xavier Rush, Rhys Williams, Tom Shanklin and Robert Sidoli.

Cardiff's History

Cardiff Blues have a fantastic heritage with the original Cardiff Club having been formed in 1876. The club has been positioned at the pinnacle of Welsh Club rugby for many years but recent highlights are: Heineken Cup Runners-up 1996, Welsh Cup winners: 1981, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1994 and 1997, Welsh League champions 1995 and Welsh/Scottish League winners 2000.
