Originally formed in 1996 with the advent of the Super 12's and originally called the ACT Brumbies they are one of the 4 Australian franchises in the Super 14's. based in Canberra and named after the wild horses that inhabit the land nearby. They are probably the most consistent performers from the Australian ranks, because of this most years they supply a good proportion of the squad that makes up the national side.
Home of The Brumbies
The team play their home games at the 25,000 capacity Canberra Stadium (formerly known as Bruce Stadium) in Canberra. They have featured in five finals winning two in 2001 and 2004, so far they are the only Australian team to have done so. They have also reached the semi-finals in every year since the Super 12's and 14's have existed.
Shirt's Colours of The Brumbies
The Brumbies play their home games in strip of navy blue, white and orange shirts with blue shorts and socks. The emblem is a prancing horse with a background of mountains. The shirt has been pulled on by a host of international players for example: Joe Roff, Owen Finegan, David Giffin, Mark Chisholm, Mark Gerrard, Matt Giteau, Daniel Heenan, Jeremy Paul, Stirling Mortlock, Clyde Rathbone, George Smith and probably the best known Stephen Larkham and most capped George Gregan.
