Bay of Plenty Union was formed in 1911. They play their home games in either of two stadiums the 19,800 capacity Blue Chip Stadium, Tauranga, Mt Maunganui or the 35,000 capacity Rotorua International Stadium, Rotorua.

Super 14 catchment
Players from Bay of Plenty are eligible to play in the Super 14 and are selected by the Chiefs. The Union has also provide a few players for the All Blacks.
