Stade Français beat Clermont Auvergne 23-18 to claim their 13th Top 14 Trophy. Clermont had reached the final by coming third in the league campaign and went on to beat Toulouse in Toulouse to book their place in the final. Stade Français who topped the league had the easier semi as they faced Biarritz at home in Paris, a game they won to set up the final in the Stade De France.

Although we did not have a lot of tries it was a pulsating final as Clermont through the boot of No.10 James took a 6 point lead through 2 penalties and then went in to half time 9-0 up thanks to a No.15 Floch drop goal. The second half and the tables were turned as Stade started to get into the game with 2 No 10 Hernandez penalties. James then put space between the side with a penalty for Clermont, only for Hernandez to reply for Stade. The game was then turned with a slice of brilliance from Agustin Pichot as he scored a try converted by Hernandez and Stade took the lead for the first time 16-15. James kicked another penalty for Clermont and the lead was 18-16 as the clock started to run down, but sustained pressure by Stade was rewarded with a try out wide to substitute No.19, just to rub salt into the wound Hernandez converted and the score moved to 23-18. The last plays had Stade pressing for further points but Clermont held out and Stade took the victory. Shame Clermont could not claim their first crown, but probably a fair result given the 2 tries to nil from Stade Français.
