17 Mar- Bracknell V Basingstoke
Basingstoke travelled to Bracknell to face a side full of vastly experienced players including Chris Sheasby at no 8. This was probably the major influence in the result, as Basingtoke had travelled with a young side containing 5 18 year olds forced through the injuries in the squad.
Bracknell exerted pressure and control through the forwards and posted 2 tries in the first half from the pack driving over from line outs, this with 2 penalties gave them an 18-0 half time lead.
The second half was more of the same although Basingstoke did have chances through their fleet footed backs, but unforced errors allowed the home side off the hook and it was Sheasby who closed out the game on 67 minutes with the last score this was converted giving Bracknell the win. The only Basingstoke points coming from the boot of Mike Goodall with a penalty on 55 minutes. Fortunately for Basingstoke all the sides below failed to take advantage and one more win either away to Weston Super Mare or home to St Ives will ensure the club stays up. Final score:
Bracknell 25 Basingstoke 3
