26 Jan – Bishops Stortford V Basingstoke

Basingstoke travelled to Stortford needing to consolidate the home win last week against Thanet.  Unfortunately they were out muscled by the big home side and went down to a heavy defeat.  Although they had passages of possession and territory they could not really compete at any phase up front and went behind on 12 minutes following pressure on the home line.  This trend continued and at half-time Basingstoke were down 26-0.

The second half and things did not get better as Basingstoke dominated the early stages but could not score. Stortford continued their scoring with a penalty on 53 minutes and rapped the game up on 70 with a further converted try and score of 36-0.  Basingstoke did have the consolation of a try on 80 minutes as Glen Lewis took a long pass from new fly-half Stuart O’Flanagan giving the final score of:
