Basingstoke went down to a narrow defeat to Reading 25-19. Stoke had the best of the first quarter and deservedly held an early 12 point lead, however Reading hit back with two unconverted tries to go in at 10-12. Stokes scores came from Dave Lambert and Myles Rutherford tries, the latter being converted by Simon Humberstone.
The second half and Reading took the lead at 22-12, but a try by Tom Northcote converted by Ollie Rogers narrowed the gap to 22- The last word however went to Reading as they scored a late penalty to bring in the final score:
