Basingstoke suffered a last minute defeat in a game they should and could have won. This defeat was a case of a game lost through errors with a first half full of missed tackles giving the visitors a half time lead of 19 points to nil. The second half Stoke came to life and scored through Caan Childs converted by Ollie Rogers 54 minutes, Shane Murphy then went over on 54 minutes with Ollie converting again to narrow the gap to 14-19. Stoke then took the lead as Myles Rutherford scored and Ollie converted on 57 minutes 21-19. An Ollie Rogers penalty as the game went into the last 10 minutes started to have the home fans believing a win was possible but Stoke went back to indiscipline and mistakes and they paid the price with the visitors posting two penalties and taking the game with the final score:
