Free State win Currie Cup

The Vodacom Free State Cheetahs won through in a nail biting finish to the Absa Currie Cup 20-18. The first half of this match was a dour affair as both sides resorted to the boot and position, thus half time was 6-3 to the Cheetahs. The second half however came to light as the Lions looked to be running away with the game having moved out to an 18-6 lead. No one could have foreseen how the Cheetahs would come to life in the last 15 minutes and score 14 unanswered points to steal the game thanks to a touch line conversion right on the death. The game had featured a parade of the Rugby World Cup and the Springboks team during half-time, which had added to a wonderful day for both sets of supporters.
